Andrea Morris; SUP guide & yoga instructor
Andrea Morris is Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Board guide, certified yoga instructor, certified SUP Yoga instructor and a leader and business owner in the outdoor adventure industry.
In our classes together, my goal is always to remain connected with source energy, facilitate genuine group connection, provide guidance in skillful flow and to allow space for inspired movement in a natural setting.
Primarily, I seek to offer you an experience as you move closer to your own authentic truths, discover your own strengths and find your own vital life rhythms, on and off the mat, particularly merging with the elements of water and nature.
My training in Vinyasa, Hatha, Prana focused styles, Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga and experiences with multiple skill levels in various environments have given me a deep well of tools to support you along your journey, regardless of where you are in your practice today.
I will be your SUP guide for the day and will incorporate a moving SUP Yoga class and paddle adventure!
During our Day of Discovery on the lake, I will guide us in learning the SUP basics, to include safety on the water and board, effective paddling techniques and getting the most out of your SUP experience!
I will also be leading a guided meditation and opening/ closing ceremonies. I very much look forward to connecting with you!
“For me, yoga is so much more than asana- it’s allowing each breath to fully inhabit our souls, bringing peace, stillness and pure joy. Each inhale and exhale we weave into our practice and the moment-to-moment journey... all the while whispering YES to life! ~ Andrea
Susannah Haarmann; Physical Therapist & event organizer
Susannah is incredibly excited for the 2nd annual SUP retreat & (like Andrea) it is her favorite event of the year! Susannah became personally invested in helping breast cancer survivors watching her own mother navigate treatment at the impressionable age of 12. After completing her residency in Women’s Health at Duke University in 2012, Susannah created a continuing education course called ‘Rehabilitation for the Breast Cancer Patient’ that she teaches to practitioners around the world. Susannah aspires to change the face of cancer care, promote comprehensive treatment, and empower survivors with knowledge to advocate for themselves and their bodies during and after treatment. Susannah has a private practice in Asheville, NC; she offers free 30-minute consultations for cancer survivors (sliding scale services are available as well.) Click here to schedule an appointment.
Bentley Andrews; firefighter, advanced EMT, avid paddler
We are incredibly lucky to have Bentley Andrews joining us this year to run safety and support! Bentley is a Senior Firefighter in Asheville, an advanced EMT and an incredibly skilled paddler. She is excited to participate in this years paddle and does so to honor and remember our Asheville firefighters who have experienced cancer. Thank you Bentley for generously donating your time and skills at Lake Fontana this year!
Also, we will miss David House this year! David, another caring AVL firefighter, volunteered his time to run safety, however, David is currently deployed to Kuwait. We love you David; come back safe and ready to PADDLE!!!
